Counter-Strike 2 Overhauls Major Shop for IEM Cologne 2026

Valve replaces sticker capsules with direct token purchases, adds price protection, and ties team revenue shares to tournament performance.

THE SHORT ANSWER

The IEM Cologne 2026 Major introduces a redesigned shop where players buy stickers directly using tokens with dynamic pricing, a 24-hour price-drop refund, a new souvenir crafting system, and performance-based revenue splits for teams.

  • Sticker capsules replaced by direct token purchases; minimum 100 tokens ($0.99 USD)
  • Dynamic pricing adjusts based on demand; 25-token price-drop refund within 24 hours
  • Souvenir-O-Matic lets players craft souvenirs from any weapon, match, and player
  • Pick'Em Challenge Coin upgrades grant 300 tokens per tier
  • Team royalty rates shift from VRS seeding to final Major standings after the event

Valve has launched the tournament item store for the IEM Cologne 2026 Major with a fundamental redesign. The capsule system used in previous Majors is gone. In its place, players purchase tokens and redeem them for any team or player sticker they want. Prices fluctuate based on demand, and a built-in refund mechanism protects buyers if a sticker's token cost drops sharply within a day.

Major Shop Overhaul: Direct Purchases Replace Capsules

The new shop lets players add individual stickers to a cart, buy the exact number of tokens needed (minimum 100 tokens, equivalent to $0.99 USD), and redeem them immediately. Valve says the change addresses two problems: players wanted direct access to specific stickers, and capsule purchases were blocked in certain regions. Sticker purchases are final once tokens are activated, but unactivated tokens can be refunded.

Token Economy and Dynamic Pricing

All sticker prices are denominated in tokens and update globally after large purchase volumes shift demand. If one sticker sells disproportionately, its price rises while others fall. A price-protection rule refunds the token difference automatically when a redeemed sticker drops by 25 tokens or more within 24 hours. Refunds appear in the token balance after one week.

Souvenir-O-Matic and Pick'Em Updates

The Souvenir-O-Matic converts any normal or souvenir-quality weapon in a player's inventory into a new souvenir item. The player selects a completed match and one participant; the weapon returns with gold team, autograph, and map stickers applied. Separately, the Cologne 2026 Viewer Pass grants a Challenge Coin. Correct Pick'Em predictions upgrade the coin from Bronze to Silver, Gold, or Diamond, with each upgrade awarding 300 tokens redeemable for stickers or souvenirs.

Revenue Sharing Tied to Performance

Fifty percent of tournament item revenue goes to the tournament organizer, teams, and players. Until the Major concludes, royalty rates follow each team's VRS seeding. After the event, rates recalculate based on final standings, giving higher-placing teams a larger share.

What This Means for Players and Teams

The shift to tokens and demand-based pricing makes sticker costs transparent and region-agnostic, while the 24-hour refund window reduces buyer hesitation. For teams, the performance-linked royalty structure adds a direct financial incentive tied to on-server results. The Major begins soon at the Cathedral of Counter-Strike.
