THE SHORT ANSWER
Roblox is rolling out a guided publishing flow that replaces the full Maturity and Compliance Questionnaire with a single confirmation question for games without age-restricted content, enabling immediate publication to players 16+. Creators 9+ can now invite up to 10 early testers to preview games before public release. Highly Engaged Player counts update hourly instead of daily, and the eligibility threshold drops from 250 to 100 next month.

Roblox has begun rolling out a unified publishing flow that cuts the steps required to get a game in front of players. Announced October 12, the changes affect both Creator Hub and Studio, with full availability expected within weeks.
Guided Publishing Flow and the Single-Question Path
The centerpiece is a streamlined Maturity and Compliance Questionnaire. Previously, every creator faced up to 30 questions, many of which only applied to games targeting the Roblox Kids and Select catalogs. Under the new system, if a game contains no age-restricted content, the creator answers one confirmation question and can publish immediately to players ages 16 and older in most regions.
The full questionnaire remains necessary only when a game includes restricted content or when the creator wants to expand into Kids, Select, or regions that require granular maturity ratings. The guided flow breaks each requirement into steps that sync live between Creator Hub and Studio, so the publishing status is always current.
Creators now choose between two publish options: Playtest, which limits access to editors, early testers, and invited playtesters (replacing the old Private and Limited settings), and Public, which makes the game available to anyone subject to age and geographic restrictions. A new Manage Audience page in Creator Hub shows reach options and what steps can expand the audience further.
Early Tester Access for Pre-Launch Feedback
Starting immediately, age-verified creators aged 9 and up can invite up to 10 friends or Group members as early testers. These testers can preview the game in the Roblox app before it goes public. The feature addresses a common friction point: previously, gathering early feedback required meeting the full Kids and Select publishing requirements.
Early testers are useful for quick checks such as verifying spawn locations, testing an obby's difficulty, or confirming that a new system behaves as intended. The preview carries a watermark and includes the same in-game reporting and safety tools available in published games.
Hourly Highly Engaged Player Updates and Lower Threshold
Once a game is live, the guided flow surfaces progress toward Roblox Kids and Select eligibility. Highly Engaged Player counts, which used to refresh once per day in Creator Hub, now update hourly. A game that suddenly gains traction can begin promotion into Kids and Select within hours instead of waiting a day or two.
Next month, the Highly Engaged Player threshold will drop from 250 to 100, making the Kids and Select catalogs accessible to smaller but deeply engaged communities. The updated numbers appear in the Audience Reach tab of Creator Hub.
Safety Guardrails for Early Testers
Roblox has built several protections around the early tester system. Testers must be of similar age to the creator or be designated as a Trusted Friend. Parents of users under 16 can disable or block early tester access for their child. Every preview session displays a watermark, and the standard in-game reporting and safety tools remain active. Both creators and testers are expected to follow the Community Standards.
What Remains Unclear
The announcement does not specify which regions count as "most regions" for the 16+ single-question path, nor does it detail how the age-similarity rule for early testers is enforced at scale. The exact rollout timeline for the guided flow across all creators is described only as "coming weeks." Roblox says more details on the threshold change and expanded eligibility will arrive next month.
