Rust's 'Silent Night, Violent Night' Event Returns with Gifts, Twitch Drops, and a Real-World Backpack Collab

Facepunch launches its annual Rustmas event with jingle-bell gift hunts, stockings, an advent calendar, returning store items, Twitch and Kick drops, a Can Be backpack collaboration, and a base-decorating contest running through January 1.

Jingle Bells Mean Loot Runs

Facepunch has flipped the switch on its annual Christmas event, "Silent Night, Violent Night," and the island is already ringing. From December 18 through January 1 at 19:00 GMT (14:00 EST), every player will periodically hear jingle bells. When the sound hits, two gift crates spawn within roughly 40 meters of your position. Run up, bash them open, and pull a mix of resources, weapons, and Christmas candy. Gifts come in small, medium, and large tiers; stockpile enough small presents and you can trade up for a medium or large box.

Wearables, Stockings, and an Advent Calendar

Santa hats and reindeer antlers return as cosmetic headgear that also grants a modest armor bonus. The lickable candy cane club is back for melee holiday cheer. Hang a stocking inside your base and it will automatically fill with loot each time the bells ring — no coal, just gear. The larger stocking has better odds and both variants last about five to ten refills. A craftable advent calendar deployable lets you claim one in-game surprise per real-world day starting December 16.

Store Refresh: Wallpapers and Returning Decor

Three new festive wallpapers hit the limited-time store: Assorted Giftwrap for walls, Red Festive Floor Tiles, and a sparkling Moulded Plaster ceiling. Alongside them, Facepunch has re-listed a slate of returning decor items — Deluxe Christmas Lights, Snow Machine, Snowman, Festive Garlands Pack, Christmas Door Wreath, Santa Beard, Neon Sign Pack, and Snowman Hat — all purchasable from the Rust Item Store.

Twitch and Kick Drops Run Category-Wide

From now until the event ends, any Rust stream on Twitch or Kick qualifies for drops. Four category-wide drop waves are scheduled across the two-week window. No specific streamer requirements; just watch a live Rust broadcast while logged in and linked.

Physical Backpack with Digital Charms

Facepunch partnered with heritage bag maker Can Be to produce a real-world Large Backpack in Vanilla Khaki Camo and Black Digital Camo. The pack mirrors the in-game military backpack's scavenged aesthetic but uses premium materials built for daily use — laptop, gym gear, or a rock and torch. Interchangeable Velcro patches sell separately. Every pre-order (open now, shipping summer 2026) includes a set of exclusive in-game weapon charms, linking the physical item to your loadout.

Base Decorating Contest Returns

The annual Rustmas Base Decorating Competition is open for 2025. Facepunch is hunting for the most Christmassy base on the island. First place walks away with £120 worth of skins of their choice plus two Rust DLCs or items. Runner-up receives £75 in skins. Submission details and judging criteria will be posted on the official channels.

The event wraps January 1 at 19:00 GMT. Until then, keep an ear out for bells — and maybe don't get too distracted admiring your new weapon charm mid-gunfight.
